The Toronto Star is reporting that the Ontario Court’s website has been compromised. www.ontariocourts.ca resides on the same domain as the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Superior Court of Justice and the Ontario Court of Justice. The website has been temporarily shut down, and “diagnostics are being done” (assuming he meant forensics) to determine how it was done, and to prevent it in future. So far, there are no reported problems with other provincial government websites, or details regarding what information if any may have been compromised. Court operations and trials are not affected. The ministry’s main website, www.attorneygeneral.jus.gov.on.ca, is still up and working, providing public information about the courts.
On Monday night, the courts’ domain name was redirecting to a photo of a young man with a pistol, above the word “HACKED.” Below it were crtyptic slogans, such as “BrutaLChaoS” and “GreatUnity.” The attackers claim to be online protesters, the “Turkish defacers”.
