My Network Operations Site

I cobbled up a site ages ago that I still refer to on a daily basis.  I share it here as it may be useful to others.  It used to be hosted at yahoo-geocities but Rogers no longer offers free web hosting to its customers.  The new page uses Java for some of the various displays, and flash for the navigation bar (looks like black and yellow hazard tape) and it provides quick access to many useful resources. <updated Oct 29, 2009>

ITIL Visible Ops

Came across this article in NetworkWorld by Mich Kabay, one of my favorite authors.  I thought that I would share it here in case others may find it useful.  Visible Ops is a 20 page pocket size quick reference booklet intended to get a newcomer started in planning and implementing the ITIL framework.

ITIL is a fantastic framework, and because it is a framenwork rather than a rulebook, it provides guidance in best practices for integrating and managing processes while optimizing a business.  Great strategy guide for IT-type people that may forget or not always think in terms of business.

Check out the article, and pick up Visible Ops.  It’s a Coles Notes ITIL guide!!  (I’ve got a hardcopy)

Welcome!

This is my blog.  There are many others like it, but this one is mine…  (Full Metal Jacket)

Hopefully, I will remember to take good care of this blog, and update it often.  No promises, as real life tends to get in the way of things such as this.

The bulk of the information found here will be security awareness related, focusing on Vulnerability Management and Incident Response.  Going forward I will be trying to include more Privacy and Disaster Recovery items.  I will try not to over post with news items, and will seek to post only the news stories that I feel are relevant and important to be aware of.  Anyway, poke around, drop me a line, tell me what you think should be here, and maybe what shouldn’t.
